The Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) is a body corporate established under Act No.9 of 2004 (as amended in 2007, 2014 and 2016) with the objective of assisting needy and eligible Tanzania students to access loans and grants for higher education
HESLB executes one of the key mandates in administering loans to students pursuing higher education. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students who are eligible are invited to apply.

- Applicant MUST be Tanzanian;
- Applicant MUST have applied the loan via Online Loan System (OLAMS)
- Applicant MUST have got Admissions to the recognized University and his/her name is sent to HESLB
- Applicant MUST have no any other source of fund to finance his /her University Education

What are important things to be considered by the Applicant before and during HESLB Loan Application?
- Make sure you duly filled and signed the HESLB Application Form
- Make sure your sponsor/ referee has signed your HESLB Application Form
- Make sure your HESLB Application Form is signed with an official stamp by the Local Government leader (Village Executive Officer, VEO)
- Make sure your HESLB Application Form is also signed by the Legal Officer to authenticate your information
What is the HESLB Loan Coverage?
- Meal Allowance up to TSH 10, 000 per day
- Accommodation costs
- Tuition Fees of the student Program
- Books and stationery service expenses
- Special Faculty requirements of the student program
- Research Activities (Research proposal and reports costs)
- Field work or practical practices
What are necessary Documents needed during HESLB Online Loan Application 2023?
- Birth Certificate verified by RITA or ZCSRA
- Death Certificate if the Applicant have lost parent (s) verified and certified by RITA or ZCSRA
- The recognizable ID (National ID (NIDA), Driving License, National Vote Identification Card, Transport Passport of the sponsor.
- Signed Form For Sponsorship if you were funded during secondary education
- A letter from District Medical Officer (DMO) or Regional Medical Offer (RMO) if your parent (s) has a permanent Disability.
- Passport Size the Applicants and with that od the Sponsor ( A sponsor can be a Parent or Guardian)
When to Apply for HESLB students Loan 2023/2024?
HESLB Online Application window is expected to be Open few weeks after the Official Release of the NECTA – Form Six Results 2023 (Matokeo Ya Kidato Cha Sita 2023) on Mid July, 2023 (15 July 2023) . Application deadline is always scheduled on September 30, every year

To apply for HESLB Loan 2023, kindly following step – by step procedures
Step 1: Visit HESLB website at www.heslb.go.tz
Step 2: Â Create HESLB account
Step 3: LOG IN in your HESLB account using the information used in step 2 with the USERNAME usually being your Form Four Index Number
Step 4: Upload all the needed documents: Certified copy of academic certificates, birth certificates, including the filled and signed HESLB Application Form as well as your photos
Step 5: Request for Loan
Step 6: Wait for HESLB Loan allocations, here you need to regularly check your Application Status on continuing basis for any notification about your HESLB Application
